“A great company by a great family. ” defines the Salis farm and family. Located mainly in the countryside of Sindia and Macomer, Salis & Sons is a company managing 350 hectares of land and various livestock: sheep, cattle, pigs, horses, Giara horses, and donkeys; and the small artisan cheese factory (where only their own milk is processed.) In the early ’50s Pasquale Salis began work on his leased land. Times were hard for many years until a series of favorable market conditions and structural developments permited growth and success of this small business. The growing success of the business made it possible to purchase the land and new equipment and Pasquale started a business improvement project for turning wild land into farmable pastures and to implement modern corporate structures. Based on the intuition and confidence of Egidio, the eldest of the Salis brothers, Salis’s Sons have officially lead the way in the organic farming of pastures, grasslands and the breeding of livestock since 1993. The organic sheep milk obtained is processed in its MINI-DAIRY, the first made in Sardinia. It produces different types of ricotta and pecorino cheese, mainly for the export market. Finally, in 2001, again following another idea of the eldest son, Egidio, Nuragh’elighe the farmhouse restaurant was born with the aim of diversifying agricultural activities and to better promote their products.
Nuragh’Elighe farmhouse provides comfortable accommodation for its customers. There is a total of 13 beds 6 double bedrooms with bathroom and air conditioning (one of which is equipped for disabled customers.)
100 seats, traditional local food (vegetarian and gluten free meals are available upon request). Cordula, ravioli, porcetto and roasted lamb, red table wine of local origin, seadas, pecorino cheese and organic ricotta of own production.
